This project is conducted in continuation of the 21st Century COE Program “Usage-Based Linguistic Informatics.”
The TUFS Language Modules developed by the 21st Century COE that included the 17 languages -- English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Korean, Mongolian, Indonesian, Tagalog, Laotian, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Turkish, and Japanese made it possible to realize a multilingual e-learning environment unprecedented anywhere in the world.
In the Global COE Program, “Corpus-based Linguistics and Language Education” we converted the TUFS language modules to contents in SCORM format, the worldwide standard specification -- not only can these contents be used as e-learning materials in the open source education management system called Moodle, but also we have broken the contents of the language modules into sections for use within the university so that the teaching staff can assemble and use the teaching materials freely.
Use of Moodle began in fiscal year 2007, and there are some languages for which we have obtained feedback from users.
