2. Outline of the Project:
The project proposes to collect information regarding the German language corpora released on the internet, and study in detail the corpora released on each web site and their search systems, including studies of their possibilities and limits, etc., and establish our foothold for the research of the German language using the corpus.

5. Progress:
We made a list of the web sites that have released German corpora on the internet. In particular, we investigated in detail the modern German written corpus and the search system COSMAS II at the Institute for the German Languages (Institute für Deutsche Sprache: IDS) in Mannheim, as well as the twentieth century German language corpus and DWDS search system of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, edited in Japanese the outline, manual, and search examples, etc. for both, and compiled the results as the “German Language Corpus Handbook 2008.” Also, we contacted the person in charge of DWDS development, and began trials of the Japanese language platform for the DWDS search site.
