Workshops on software tools including Toolbox, Praat, and ELAN were conducted. At the workshop, the basic functions of the software tools were outlined with demonstrations, and introductory trainings were given in order to utilize the tools in descriptive linguistic data processing and analysis.

A workshop on documentary linguistics was conducted involving various researchers from within Japan and abroad. The workshop combined wide-range theoretical discussions and practical courses on such topics as language documentation theory, data collection methods, voice recording methods, data management methodology, archive data creation methods, research aid application methods, and data utilization methods, etc. We received extremely positive feedback from the participants.
