1.Project Name: Compilation of a Word List for Field Research on Khwe Languages
2.Outline of the Project:
The project compiles a basic vocabulary list for Khoe languages. The list will contain translations in Tswana translations, which is a highly useful contact language for field research in Botswana where many Khoe languages are spoken. In preparation for field research in Botswana, spoken Tswana translations will be recorded, edited and processed to enhance usefulness of the vocabulary list.

A basic vocabulary list with approximately a thousand items with Tswana translation has been compiled through elicitation using the Basic Vocabulary Survey List of the ILCAA. The work was carried out with cooperation of Professor Andy Chebanne, a linguist at the Botswana University.
All the 1000 items were audio-recorded by Chebanne. The audio recordings the items have been edited into electronic files, and labeled for formatting the lexicon. The compilation is presently in process.
